10 Life Lessons We Can Learn From Three Wheeled Buggies

Three Wheeled Buggies

Three-wheeled buggies are ideal for walking around the neighborhood or jogging. Their compact design makes them easy to manoeuvre even in tight spaces.

If you want an easy ride in your baby, select models with 360deg front wheels with swivel. However, they are susceptible to punctures, so make sure you are prepared with an repair kit.

Frame made of sturdy material

New figures show that three-wheeled buggies, that symbol of the decade that were more expensive than common sense, are in steep decline. They have been replaced by four-wheelers which can be more versatile in terrain, while still looking stylish and easy to push.

The principle is that the larger the wheels, the easier it will be for your buggy to deal with bumpy and rough pavements. Having larger wheels both front and back also makes it easier to manoeuvre and more stable when walking downhill or over difficult terrain.

MFM reviewer Kath tried the buggy with a newborn and 3 year old and found it was able to handle grass, cobbles rough roads, dirt tracks and kerbs. Kath said it felt sturdy to push, and extremely solid on rough terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable and require occasional pumping) come with suspension built-in that was very comfortable for my children.

The shape and size of the seat is a further factor to consider. It is important for the seat to be big enough to allow your child to be comfortable and to allow them to lie down. Some three-wheel buggies will have the option of reclining completely, while others will only allow a parent facing one.

The Roma Atlas is a great option for off-road or walking in muddy areas. This buggy is suitable for a single child from birth and can be adjusted to accommodate two children as your family grows. It is suitable for infants and toddlers until age 4 and comes with a bumper bar, raincover, a better 5-point harness, and a large padded seat unit. Storage options are also a plus, with a large basket with zip pockets on the hood, and an attractive pouch on the rear of the seat unit.

Wheels with a larger diameter

Larger wheels will give your buggy more stability when driving on rough terrain. This is ideal for buggies that are off-road. They also help you maneuver the pushchair in tight spaces. Some three-wheeled buggies feature swivel wheels on the front, which assist you in navigating tight corners. Others are designed to run and have fixed wheels that lock for increased speed and stability. This is particularly useful when you hit a tree or a kerb. The front wheel can be lifted slightly to avoid hitting it.

A lot of  3 wheel pushchairs  have air filled tyres which means they can be used on different terrains and are far more flexible than four wheelers. They're also lighter. However, they're prone to punctures and you'll need to have a repair kit, spare inner tube and pump in your bag.

Some of our favourite 3-wheelers include the Mountain Buggy Core and Venicci Carbo Lux. Both of these buggies come with larger wheels that, as per MFM reviewer Kath, "perform really well on gravel tracks, grass and market town cobbles" and can easily go up and down kerbs. They also come with a suspension system that according to her "smoothes out bumps extremely effectively".

Buggies with larger wheels may be quite wide and may struggle to fit into narrow spaces. This is an issue especially if you're using it to a jogger or you need to maneuver through doors that are narrow when out and about. Luckily, most models have small folding options that allow you to take off the front wheels to make compact storage.

Easy to maneuver

A three-wheeled buggy is more maneuverable for children. The way they are built means that the front wheels turn at a whim and are extremely maneuverable which makes them perfect for tricky terrain like cobbles, parks or bumpy pavements, as well as dirt tracks.

MFM reviewer Kath tested a 3 wheeler with her newborn and toddler and said: "The Terrain was a delight to maneuver on the terrain and the swivel front wheel particularly useful. I was also amazed by how well it handled kerbs with the hand-operated break. It was extremely stable when for descending or on a rough terrain."

The only drawback to this incredible maneuverability is that the larger wheels of a 3 wheel buggy might make it difficult to fit into tight spaces. This is something you need to be aware of if your home area is an urban area. If this is a concern then a 4-wheel buggy may be a better choice for you.

Bumper bar

Bumper bars protect your child from bumps and scrapes when out and about. They are simple and quick to put up and help your child feel secure and safe while out on the town or tackling tough terrain.

It is designed to complement the sleek lines of the sleek lines of your Slim Twin stroller, this bumper bar has a soft and cushioned surface that provides a comfortable place for your child to hold onto during walks. The robust construction and sturdy design will ensure that your child is comfortable strolling through the city without worrying about falling or leaning towards the side.

The sling is stowed inside the frame it is not positioned on top like the modular seat. This puts the center of gravity for your newborn at the ideal height, and also delivers an excellent weight distribution, making it easier to pop over curbs (it is much easier to push the stroller up and over than you think). MFM reviewer Kath found it coped really well with cobbles and grass and is a great option for jogging thanks to its lockable swivel wheel on the front and air-filled tyres.

With a sophisticated and stylish design, this bumper bar is sure to turn heads wherever you go. It's available in a range of finishes and colors to match your personal style. The bumper bar is easily removed and put in place with the quick-release mechanism. The bumper bar is also easy to clean since it is constructed of durable materials. This makes it an excellent option for families that want an elegant and safe accessory for their stroller.

Comfort

A 3-wheel buggy provides the highest level of agility and performance when driving off-road. This type of buggy is simple to steer and turn in a flash thanks to its perfect geometry engineering, weight, and distribution.

The sport's clever design puts the sling seat made of fabric inside the frame, instead of sitting on top as modular seats. This allows it to have lower center of gravity, which means it is easier to push, has a less weighty curb-pop (you will not need to exert as much effort to lift the buggy's hood over a curb) and provides more stability and balance. With the 16" rear wheels, the lockable front wheel, and air-filled tyres, you can enjoy a more smooth, comfortable jogging.

As the only pushchair in our collection to come with a seat for parents that can also be used as the form of a car seat or carrycot to ensure the future of your family and take pleasure in every adventure from day dot and into the future and all within the footprint of one buggy!

Kath who was our MFM reviewer, also appreciated the space of this buggy. There's a big, easily accessible basket that's surprisingly roomy for a buggy this small, plus there's a handy zipped pouch on the rear of the seat and even two smaller mesh pockets under the hood to keep your phone and keys.
